Xavier Puertas

Born in 1967, he was trained in the conservatories of Barcelona and Vienna. In 1997 he joined the Barcelona Symphonic Orchestra. He specialized in the baroque double bass and regularly collaborates with

groups such as the Concentus Musicus of Vienna, Al Ayre Español, the Baroque Orchestra of Seville, the Catalan Baroque Orchestra, the Baltasar Newman Ensemble of Freiburg or the Concert Français. He presently teaches in the Conservatories of Barcelona and Cervera where he gives classes of double bass to children and adults, and in the Aula de Música Antiga of the Conservatory of Girona he teaches baroque double bass and violone in G. He is professor im the Manuel de Falla courses of Historical

Interpretation in Granada and in the International Summer course in Cervera. He usually plays with the Concert des Nations and Hesperion XXI under the direction of Jordi Savall.
