Spanish Music for Violin & Piano

Concert

One of the most prominent violinists of our time, Johnny Gandelsman will offer a very dynamic program accompanied by the exquisite Spanish accompanist Ainhoa Urkijo. The concert will start with “7 canciones españolas” by Manuel de Falla, a piece based on traditional folk song from all over the Spanish geography.

The program will continue with J. S. Bach’s Partita No. 2 that contains Spanish influences and is an example of the strong Spanish musical influence during the Baroque period in Europe.

The second half will start with the world premiere of a new composition by the American composer Edward Pérez that will feature Latin American rhythms.

The concert will end with music by the 19th century Spanish violin virtuoso, Pablo de Sarasate.
